Born on 8th August, Fahadh Faasil is considered one of the most eye-conic…I mean iconic actors in not only the Malayalam film industry but in India too. Son of the famous Malayalam film director Fazil, Fahadh made his acting debut in his film in 2002 with ‘Kaiyethum Doorath’. The story that follows is quite famous. After his debut film flopped, Fahadh took a 7-year break from the film industry and went to the US to acquire M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Miami.

His comeback to the film industry is considered one of the strongest. Known for his impeccable film and script selection, Fahadh went on to produce and star in some excellent films like ‘Chaappa Kurishu’, ‘Annayum Rasoolum’, ‘North 24 Kaatham’, ‘Bangalore Days’, ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’, ‘Super Deluxe’, ‘Trance’, and more recently ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘Vikram’.

Let’s take a look at some of the best performances of Fahadh Faasil that makes him the acting powerhouse he’s known for being.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, 2017
Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, 2017

For those who have not had the pleasure of watching this film, let me quickly give you a rundown. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is translated as the mainour and the witness. It is a story of a couple who are traveling in a local bus and in between that journey a thief skillfully steals the woman’s gold chain. Simple, right? Absolutely not. This 2017 movie deals with subjects like politics, red tape, police procedures, poverty, and most importantly can good people do bad things? Directed by Dileesh Pothan, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum stars Suraj Venjaramoodu and Nimisha Sajayan as the couple and Fahadh Faasil as the sly thief.

Kumbalangi Nights, 2019
Kumbalangi Nights, 2019

One of my personal favorite and initial films of Fahadh Faasil, Kumbalangi Nights is directed by Madhu C. Narayanan and written by Syam Pushkaran. Fahadh plays the antagonist in the film which shows the story of four distant brothers who ironically live in a small house together. Shami’s chilling smile, nosy nature, and unpredictable attitude made him an iconic villain.

Joji, 2021
Joji, 2021

Joji is a 2021 Malayalam film that is inspired by William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Fahadh Faasil plays the titular character Joji who is a timid but ruthless son of a powerful landlord. Another film where Fahadh brilliantly portrays a grey character whose moral compass is totally broken. Directed by Dileesh Pothan and written by Syam Pushkaran, Joji stars Fahadh Faasil, Baburaj, Shammi Thilakan, Unnimaya Prasad, and more.

Malik, 2021
Malik, 2021

Said to be one of the best performances of Fahadh Faasil, Malik is a story of Kerala’s coastal leader, Sulaiman. Although the film is not based on real characters, it does resonate with a lot of things that are going on in the region. Malik is a journey of Fahadh’s Sulaiman from his childhood to his old age. Directed and written by Mahesh Narayanan, Malik is a must-watch political-thriller film.

Malayankunju, 2022
Malayankunju, 2022

Fahadh Faasil continues to feature in small-budgeted but content-driven films after doing blockbusters like ‘Pushpa’ and ‘Vikram’. ‘Malayankunju’ is a recently released film that focuses on a bigot Anikuttan played unrelentingly by Fahadh. His circumstances quickly fall into despair when he is caught in a natural calamity. ‘Malayankunju’ is one of the must-watch films of the year 2022.
