Rohit Shetty Firing Case: Investigation Speeds Up, Four Accused Identified

The investigation into the firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence has progressed rapidly. Mumbai Police have shared several new details in the case and confirmed the identities of four arrested accused, all of whom have been sent to police custody.

Identities of the Accused Revealed

Police have identified the four individuals arrested in connection with the firing at Rohit Shetty’s home as 19-year-old Aditya Gyaneshwar Gaikwad, 20-year-old Siddharth Deepak Yenpure, 18-year-old Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji, and 23-year-old Swapnil Bandu Sakat.
All four are residents of Pune and have been remanded to police custody till February 5.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were involved in providing the vehicle used in the crime and planning the conspiracy. Further investigation in the Rohit Shetty firing case is currently underway.

Alleged Bishnoi Gang Member Declared Wanted

On Sunday, a social media post surfaced in which Shubham Lonkar, an alleged member of the Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the firing at Rohit Shetty’s residence.
Police have now declared Lonkar a wanted accused and are actively searching for him.

How the Investigation Has Unfolded So Far

Police shared multiple updates on Sunday detailing how the investigation progressed. Here are the key findings so far:

According to police, the attacker arrived in the Juhu area on a motorcycle, parked it some distance away from Rohit Shetty’s residence, and then walked to Shetty Tower, the building where the filmmaker lives.

The attacker fired shots outside the residence and fled the scene immediately after.

Police observed similarities between the firing incidents at Salman Khan’s house and Rohit Shetty’s residence, noting that the modus operandi in both cases appears similar.

The case is currently being investigated by the Mumbai Crime Branch.

The attacker reportedly spoke to an auto-rickshaw driver near the crime scene. The driver told police that the attacker asked if he could take him to Kalyan. When the driver said it was too far, he offered to drop him at a nearby Juhu railway station. The driver’s statement has been officially recorded.

Crime Branch officials questioned locals at the scene, and Rohit Shetty’s statement has also been recorded. The filmmaker is fully cooperating with the investigation.

A forensic team visited Rohit Shetty’s residence to collect forensic samples.

On Sunday itself, police arrested the four accused from Warje and Karve Nagar areas of Pune.

The accused have now been identified and remanded to police custody till February 5.
