Mumbai Crime Branch Takes Major Action in Extortion Case Linked to Remo D’Souza
The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken significant action in an old extortion case involving renowned choreographer and filmmaker Remo D’Souza. Police have taken notorious gangster Ravi Pujari into custody. He is accused of threatening Remo’s wife over the phone with death threats and demanding a massive ₹5 crore settlement following a film-related dispute.
The long-standing dispute between singer Kumar Sanu and his former wife Rita Bhattacharya has taken a serious legal turn. The bitterness from their past relationship has now escalated into a major courtroom battle. The Bombay High Court has issued a strict order restraining Rita from giving any “controversial” interviews or making any statements—written or verbal—against the singer.
Fans had waited 27 years for Border 2, but its theatrical release on January 23 brought disappointment. Morning shows across several major cities and multiplexes were abruptly cancelled. The reason was a delay in the delivery of the film’s digital prints and KDM content, which failed to reach theatres on time.
Renowned music composer Palash Muchhal, brother of singer Palak Muchhal, has landed in serious legal trouble. A film financier in Sangli, Maharashtra, has accused him of cheating to the tune of ₹40 lakh. The complainant claims Palash took money for a film project that never progressed, nor was the amount returned.
Due to the absence of a censor certificate, Thalapathy Vijay’s final film Jana Nayakan failed to capitalize on the Republic Day holiday. With the court hearing likely on January 27, exhibitors are now hoping for a release on February 6 or February 13, dates that currently have no major competing releases. A timely release could benefit the film both domestically and internationally.
Actress Anushka Sharma took to social media to shower praise on Rani Mukerji and express excitement for Mardaani 3. Sharing the film’s trailer on her Instagram story, Anushka wrote, “Congratulations, Rani! I’ve always admired your work and the grace you bring to everything you do. Really excited to see what lies ahead for you.”
Alongside acting, Shraddha Kapoor has ventured into the business world by launching her own jewellery brand. She introduced Amrita Rao as the brand’s face but humorously admitted feeling a little jealous. In a fun video, Shraddha keeps interrupting Amrita while reminding viewers that she is still the co-founder.
On January 23, 2026, actress Nimrat Kaur marked the death anniversary of her father, Major Bhupendra, by sharing emotional photos and a heartfelt note on social media. She wrote that being called Major Bhupendra’s daughter is her greatest pride. It has been 32 years since her father passed away.
Reports suggest that a bulletproof army vehicle carrying 17 soldiers to a high-altitude post lost control and plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, but several soldiers could not be saved. Actor Sonu Sood expressed his grief on X (formerly Twitter) and stood in solidarity with the families of the martyred soldiers.
Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has completed 50 days in theatres and continues its strong box office run. The film earned ₹1.15 crore on Day 48 and ₹1.10 crore on Day 49. The Day 50 figures are yet to be reported, but the film has already amassed a massive ₹830.50 crore in total collections
