‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ Faces Trouble Ahead of Release; BMC Recommends Blacklisting Production House

The blockbuster success of Dhurandhar created massive buzz across India and overseas, earning praise for filmmaker Aditya Dhar. The film continued to dominate even after its OTT release, trending in regions like Pakistan and Gulf countries where it had earlier faced theatrical bans. Now, fans are eagerly waiting for its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, scheduled to release on March 19. However, controversy surrounding the film’s shoot is creating hurdles even before its premiere.

Reports suggest that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is preparing strict action against the director’s production banner, B62 Studios, over repeated violations of safety rules during filming in Mumbai. The civic body has reportedly recommended permanently blacklisting the production house from shooting in the city.

Multiple Violations During Shoot

According to officials, several breaches of police and civic guidelines occurred during a recent shoot in South Mumbai’s A Ward area. Authorities have approved a proposal to blacklist B62 Studios along with two other applicants, Komal Pokhariyal and Nasir Khan. If implemented, they may no longer be able to apply for shooting permissions through the state’s official film permission portal.

Fine and Penalty Proposed

Officials have also proposed a fine of ₹1 lakh against the production house. Allegations include filming on a building terrace without proper approval and operating two generator vans without permission. Additionally, authorities have recommended forfeiting the previously submitted ₹25,000 security deposit.

What Exactly Happened?

The controversy reportedly stems from shoots conducted in January and February in South Mumbai. Permission granted for January 30 came with strict conditions, including a ban on firecrackers or flammable materials. However, authorities claim the conditions were violated on February 7 and 8, leading to warnings and deposit seizure.

Despite this, a fresh application was submitted for a late-night shoot on February 14. Officials allege that assurances were given that no flammable material would be used, but complaints were received around 12:45 am about burning torches being used during filming. Police reached the spot and seized five lit torches, calling it a violation of safety norms.

Stricter Rules Likely Ahead

Following the incident, the civic body is reportedly considering tightening the film shooting permission process in Mumbai. In recent years, multiple complaints related to traffic disruption, noise, and safety concerns during shoots have surfaced. Industry insiders believe the action could serve as a warning to other production houses to strictly follow regulations.

The controversy has sparked debate within the film industry about compliance with safety norms, especially for large-scale productions#bollywoodnews
