Filmmaker Karan Johar often speaks about his family. Recently, he opened up about everything—from being a single parent to searching for love. Karan Johar admitted that he feels lonely during mealtimes. Here’s what he said on the latest episode of Serving It Up with Sania.

Karan Johar Wanted Love

When Karan was asked how he feels about not having a partner, he replied,
"I’m fine now. There was a time when I truly wanted love. I wanted companionship, I wanted a relationship. I went through all kinds of highs and lows, heartbreaks, and one-sided love. I even made a film about it. It was very therapeutic. It helped me heal."

He Refused to Step Out More

Karan shared that people advised him to go out more to feel better. To this, he said,
"Where do I go? I live here with my mother and my two kids. I have to be here. I’ve gone through that phase. I do feel lonely—that’s the truth. You feel the most alone during the good times, not the bad ones. Eating alone is another thing that makes you feel lonely."

When someone pointed out that he has narrated the best love stories but doesn’t have one of his own, he responded,
"God didn’t write that pair for me."

Karan Johar’s Family

Karan Johar’s father, Yash Johar, passed away in 2004. He currently lives in Mumbai with his mother, Hiroo Johar, with whom he shares a very close relationship. He is a single father to two children, Yash and Roohi, both born via surrogacy.

Karan last directed the 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
