Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar was released in theatres on December 5 and has been receiving praise for its powerful performances. Ever since the teaser dropped, conversations around the age gap between Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun have been trending online. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra has now shared his perspective on the matter.

Mukesh Chhabra responds to the age-gap debate
Speaking to Free Press Journal, Mukesh Chhabra said that questions surrounding the age difference will be answered in the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, which is set to release next year. He clarified that the age gap was intentional and rooted in the film’s narrative.

The age gap was a story requirement
Explaining further, Chhabra said, “I was aware of it from the beginning. The story revolves around a character who is trying to trap her, so we knew we needed a girl who was around 20 to 21 years old. When the second part releases, people questioning the age gap will get their answers. It’s not like we didn’t have good actors aged 26–27, but this was the requirement of the story. You can’t explain everything to everyone. Even I laughed when I first noticed the age difference, but according to the film’s narrative, it fits perfectly.”

Star cast and sequel update
Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan. The makers have officially confirmed that the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, will hit theatres on March 19, 2026.
