Supreme Court Issues Notice to Karisma Kapoor in Sanjay Kapoor Property Dispute

The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to actress Karisma Kapoor, seeking her response to a petition filed by Priya Kapoor, who has requested access to Karisma’s 2016 divorce records with businessman Sanjay Kapoor. Priya Kapoor is Sanjay Kapoor’s third wife, and she is currently locked in a legal battle with Karisma’s children over Sanjay Kapoor’s estimated ₹30,000 crore estate.

Court Seeks Karisma Kapoor’s Response

During the hearing, Karisma Kapoor’s lawyer strongly opposed the petition, calling it baseless and an invasion of privacy. A bench headed by Justice A.S. Chandurkar heard the matter and directed Karisma Kapoor to present her objections. The court has granted her two weeks to file a formal reply.

Priya Kapoor Demands Divorce Documents

In her application, Priya Kapoor has demanded access to the divorce papers of Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. She claims that these documents are necessary to verify the financial commitments made by her late husband, including expenses related to his children.

Reacting to this demand, Sanjay Kapoor’s sister Mandhira Kapoor Smith said,
“This appears to be an attempt to divert attention from the real issue. If my brother wanted to share these details, he would have done so during the marriage itself. I don’t understand why this is being raised now.”

Sanjay Kapoor’s Sister Calls Divorce a Private Matter

Mandhira Kapoor Smith further added,
“Divorce is a confidential matter. Karisma and Sanjay have children together—it’s not a childless divorce. I don’t believe this is anyone else’s personal business apart from the two individuals involved.”

Karisma Kapoor’s Children Fighting Legal Battle

Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Kapoor, are currently contesting the distribution of their late father’s ₹30,000 crore estate. Earlier, they filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, alleging that Sanjay Kapoor’s will is forged and fabricated.

According to the disputed will, almost the entire property has been bequeathed to Priya Kapoor, while Karisma Kapoor and her children have allegedly been excluded.

Sanjay Kapoor’s Death Sparked Legal Dispute

Sanjay Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor’s former husband, passed away last June in England after suffering a sudden heart attack while playing polo. Following his death, the controversial will surfaced, triggering a high-profile legal battle within the family.
